First Visit
After you have filled out a few forms relating to the workings of the clinics, gaining consent and your personal details, your chiropractor will take a full history relating to your current and past health. The consultation will take between 30 and 45 minutes.
If chiropractic appears not to be suitable for you, you will be referred to your GP or the appropriate specialist for further investigation or advice. Your details are confidential and no one else will be able to see your notes without your permission.
If we agree to continue with care, you may be asked to undress to your underwear and gowned for an appropriate examination of the neuro-musculo-skeletal system (nerves, muscles and joints). As a chiropractors first concern is to find out what is wrong, it may be necessary to check out other systems such as your heart, lungs and abdomen to rule out any other causes of your existing problem.
If an x-ray or MRI are required to assist with the examination, we have immediate access to private hospital facilities which ensure that time is not wasted in gathering any relevant information.
If we do not need to take x-rays or do further tests, treatment may be offered on the first day. You will be given an explanation as to what is wrong with you in clear, plain, understandable language. You will be advised as to how many treatments you will need and what the costs are likely to be and also offered advice to augment the benefits of your chiropractic care.
