The Doctor title used by our chiropractors denotes that they are Doctor’s of Chiropractic (DC), and not medical practitioners. They have undergone a minimum of 5-6 years of accredited, university and post-graduate training in the care and treatment of musculoskeletal conditions. All our chiropractors are qualified to international accepted standards, have completed a postgraduate registration training scheme and are members of the British Chiropractic Association.
Dr George Carruthers BSc DC MSc FCC(Ortho) FEAC(Ortho) FBCA
As a graduate from Europe’s longest established chiropractic college, the Anglo-European College of Chiropractic, with both his degrees from Portsmouth University, Dr George Carruthers has been serving the area as a Chiropractor since 1994. His interests in chiropractic are general, from low back pain through spinal rehabilitation to shoulder problems and trapped nerves, with his list of patients covering all ages and walks of life. Through his research for his MSc, he gained an interest in Whiplash Injuries and Headaches and based on his many years studying karate in which he holds a 7th Dan, in injuries in the martial artists.
He has been published in both medical and chiropractic journals and holds fellowships in the College of Chiropractors and the European Academy of Chiropractors in orthopaedics, is a Fellow of the British Chiropractic Association and is a fellow of the Royal Society of Medicine.
Dr Carruthers has worked as a chiropractor for Sheffield Wednesday, was official chiropractor to the Karate World Championships in Manchester 2008, and is currently Chiropractor to the Sheffield Steelers Ice Hockey Team. He continues to consult out of our Chesterfield clinic.
