Rehabilitation.
Rehabilitation is an intensive course of exercise therapy designed to strengthen and restore the normal function of muscles, improve endurance and stamina, increase flexibility and range of motion of tight muscles and reduce pain. Balance exercises are also included to improve the reaction time of lazy muscle groups. Each patient is individually assessed and a programme specific to your needs and level of your ability is devised and carried out under experienced supervision.
The programme based on research carried out in Denmark, starts with a gentle warm up to ensure that all your muscles are warm and flexible before moving onto specific strength and endurance exercises. This may be followed by a stretching regime, some of which your chiropractor may have given you prior to starting the rehabilitation course. All exercises are supervised and the trainer will encourage you to progress by either increasing the resistance, or number of repetitions in each exercise.
To augment your rehabilitation the chiropractors at the Chesterfield Chiropractic Group also offer ergonomic advice on your posture at work, home and when you are asleep. We may also advise patients in the use of appropriate nutritional supplements, which may help to reduce inflammation as well as rest, exercise or lifestyle changes. Referral to other health care practitioners may occur depending on your symptoms and length of time you have had them as in some severe and chronic cases, a multi disciplinary approach may be the best course of action for your problems.
